HASS Successfully Hosts Its First Overseas I.DE.A Forum in Shanghai
Sharing Strategies for Minimally Invasive Laminate Veneer Restorations
By Jeon Su-hwan

The 9th I.DE.A Forum, hosted by HASS Corp., was held in Shanghai, China, from May 21 to 23.
The event was especially meaningful as it marked HASS’s first overseas academic forum,
expanding the educational content and operational expertise the company has built through the I.DE.A Forum in Korea over the past decade to meet the needs of the Chinese market.
The forum was co-hosted with the Chinese Society of Esthetic Dentistry.
This year’s main theme was “Generational Shift and Innovation in Dental Esthetic Ceramic Materials.”
Under this theme, the forum focused on one of the most prominent topics in dentistry today
: all-ceramic esthetic laminate veneer restorations based on minimally invasive preparation of anterior teeth.
Practical strategies for esthetic restorations that can be applied directly in both clinical and dental laboratory settings were shared throughout the program.
During the main lecture session on May 21, four speakers representing the United States, China,
and Korea presented on new ceramic materials, long-term clinical outcomes, and reproducible esthetic restoration strategies from a dental laboratory perspective.

Dr. Edward McLaren, a leading authority in ceramic materials and esthetic restorative dentistry,
presented the future direction of esthetic prosthetic restorations by combining the evolution of ceramic technology with a human-centered esthetic approach.
Speakers from Korea, including Dr. Jongwook Park of Apgujeong Dream Dental Clinic and Wonpil Jang, Head Dental Technician at Heekyung Dental Art Dental Laboratory,
along with Chinese speaker Dr. Jiang Shan, shared clinical and laboratory know-how for laminate veneer restorations using high-strength glass-ceramics and lithium disilicate.
The hands-on sessions, held from May 22 to 23, took place at the official exocad China Training Center in Shanghai,
with approximately 30 participants joining the advanced practical program.
Step-by-step training was conducted in an environment closely resembling real clinical conditions.
Topics included minimally invasive anterior tooth preparation design, veneer restoration workflows using lithium disilicate and high-strength glass-ceramics,
lighting environment assessment for shade reproduction under a color temperature of 5,000–6,000K, and furnace heat-treatment conditions.
The close support provided by the speakers and assisting staff throughout the entire process helped maximize the learning outcomes for each participant and received highly positive feedback.
A HASS representative stated, “This I.DE.A Forum holds great significance as our first forum held overseas.
Under the topic of a generational shift in esthetic ceramic materials, we focused on providing insights and know-how that can be immediately applied in clinical and dental laboratory settings.
We hope this event served as a meaningful platform connecting China’s esthetic prosthetic restoration market with HASS’s global network.”
